A casual summer fling is the antidote to their grief. A long-buried mystery brings them danger and intrigue. Suddenly, their fling becomes anything but casual! Today on the Indie Author Feature with Coffee Time Romance and More, I’m pleased to welcome Nan Reinhardt, author of The Summer of Second Chances
A Note from the Author
Hi, I’m Nan and I’m a writer of sexy romance novels for older women. Yeah, women still fall in love and have sex, even after 45! Imagine! I’m also a wife, a mom, a mother-in-law, and grandmother to a precious little boy and a sweet golden retriever. I’ve been an antiques dealer, a bank teller, a stay-at-home mom, a secretary, and for the last twenty years, I’ve earned my living as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader.
But writing is my first and most enduring passion. I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t writing—I wrote my first romance novel at the age of ten. It involved a love story between the most sophisticated person I knew at the time, my older sister (who was in high school and had a driver’s license!), and a member of Herman’s Hermits. If you know who they are (the song “I’m ‘Enry the Eighth, I am” is now stuck in your head like an earworm!), then you are my audience! I’m still writing romance, but this time from the viewpoint of a wiser, slightly rumpled, menopausal woman instead of a starry-eyed preteen.
I’ve completed four novels; Rule Number One, published by BookStrand, is available at all e-retailers. The other three, which are part of the Women of Willow Bay series are published under my own brand, Fine Wine Romances—Once More From the Top, Sex and the Widow Miles, and The Summer of Second Chances are all available at any e-retailer. Like Jo March (Little Women), I write late at night, after the editing gig work is finished for the day and my household is asleep.
When Sophie Russo inherits two lakeside cottages in Willow Bay, Michigan, she thinks she can start over with a peaceful, quiet summer.
Boy, is she wrong.
First, there’s Henry Dugan, the nerdy genius behind the GeekSpeak publishing empire, who has rented Sophie’s second cottage so he can write his novel. The instant attraction catches them both off guard. He’s fresh off a brutal divorce, and Sophie’s still grieving her beloved Papa Leo, so this is no time to start a relationship, but a casual summer fling might be an option…
Then Sophie’s long-lost mother barrels onto the scene and opens up a long-buried mystery involving Depression-era mobsters and a missing cache of gold coins worth millions that some present-day hoodlums would like to get their hands on.
Suddenly, Sophie’s quiet summer becomes a dangerous dance with her grandfather’s dark past. With Henry at her side–and in her bed–Sophie needs to find a way to make peace with the past and look toward the future… assuming she lives that long.
QUESTION: When a casual relationship gets tangled up with a fight to solve a mystery, what kind of hero do you want at your side? The nerdy genius like Henry Dugan? The sheer brawn of a body builder? The smooth self-defence of the street-wise hunk? Let us know who you would want in your bed if you were in Sophie Russo’s shoes!
